The mission of the St. Elias Ladies Guild is to encourage its members to participate in spiritual and charitable activities and to establish funds for the furtherance of charity and spiritual development of St. Elias parish.
In 1901, St. Elias Melkite Church was established to serve the Middle Eastern Community in Cleveland, Ohio. In 1908, it was dedicated on Webster Avenue. In 1938, changing conditions caused the parishioners to move to Scranton Rd.
In 1923, the Ladies Guild of St. Elias Parish was established by Selma Zegiab (respectfully called "Sister Selma" as she instructed the children in Sunday School). The mission of the Ladies Guild was to encourage its members to participate in spiritual and charitable activities, establish funds for the furtherance of charity and spiritual development of St. Elias Parish.
